Science
Teaching Science outdoors is natural! Give it a try, even if it is one lesson of the whole unit, you are still giving your students the benefits of Education: Outdoors. A lesson can be any length of time. Journal of Positive Psychology states just five minutes spent siting in nature allows one to experience an increase in positive emotions. Click a category below for lesson ideas for a variety of units for a variety of grades. I have written most of my outdoor science lessons myself using my 12 years of classroom teaching as a guide. However new ideas come from Jacob Rodenburg's books:
The Big Book of Nature Activities and
The Book of Nature Connection.
Rodenburg's books can be found on the usual book buying sites OR better go to the Outdoor Learning Store to purchase his books and register for any potential workshops taught by Rodenburg.
Jane Goodall Institute Canada's
Roots & Shoots Programs is for the budding environmentalist of today and tomorrow!
Agriculture in the Classroom offers free classroom resources related to the Nova Scotia science curriculum.
I was privileged to introduce Education:Outdoors to Bachelor of Education students for the junior and senior high level. They made me think of ideas of how science for the upper levels can be taught in the outdoors. Click here for ideas. If you have a lesson or idea please send me an email and I will include it here.

Career Connections
I have added a list of careers when I could because it's provides another real-life connection for students and it's never too early to start providing students with a scope of what they they can be!
Guest speakers
Perhaps someone with that career will come be a guest speaker or co-teach with you outside!
